Although presented in public last year, the new seedless watermelon, Ice Box, is characterized by being a relatively small fruit, between two and three kilos. It is intended to meet the needs of small families and individual consumers.
Fashion brand watermelon is AGF’s response in terms of quality and trust, offering full product traceability at all stages through real-time production planning and forecasting systems, as well as the brand’s own certification scheme through compliance with the Association’s Quality Regulations. Both the certification and co-ordination of the production are audited by an independent third party.
The association, the owner of the Fashion brand watermelon, uses a totally innovative management model. It is organized into different working groups: Production, Marketing and Sales. Its main activity focuses on the application of strict criteria with regard to the usual standards to guarantee a uniform product in terms of quality and identification, making it unique in Spain.
An extremely healthy product
The Fashion brand watermelon is a very healthy food. It is a fruit rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 and B3, calcium and phosphorus, with a high level of lycopenes and considerable anti-oxidizing properties, making it a product capable of warding off illness. It contains a large amount of water (93%), meaning that it has a very low calorie count. It quenches the thirst, provides a sense of fullness and also, thanks to its diuretic properties and its high alkalinizing powers, encourages the elimination of acids that are harmful to the body.
It is also very beneficial for the circulation as it contains citrulline, a substance causing a relaxation of the capillary vessels. Citrulline is metabolized into an essential amino-acid called arginine that produces beneficial effects on the heart, the circulation of the blood and the immune system. All this has meant that the Fashion Group Association has become a collaborator of the Spanish Heart Foundation (FEC).
The Fashion Group Association was one of the key sponsors, on March 29th, at the final of the fourth edition of the Chef of the Year Competition (CCA) held in the BCNVanguardia Area of the Restaurama show during the Alimentaria international food exhibition.
AGF originates from 2002 although it was formally incorporated as an association in 2006 and today it has become one of the main fruit and vegetable consortia in Europe. It represents 22 producers in different parts of Spain, distributed among the provinces of Almería, Granada, Sevilla, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Castellón, Tarragona, Huesca, Ciudad Real and the Balearic Islands. The Association counts on the collaboration of the prestigious Nunhems Spain, S.A. company, the creator of the seed that has given rise to the Fashion brand seedless watermelon they own.
