For the last ten years, the major European producing area for lamb’s lettuce, the Loire Valley, has seen continuous growth in its production figures. This trend is in evidence once again in the 2004-2005 season.
The almost 5,000 tonnes of lamb’s lettuce marketed by the cooperative of Val Nantais, make this firm one of the main traders of this product.
The Marais group from Nantes is a reference point for the French lamb’s lettuce trading firms as regards the segmentation and innovation of this product.
From July 1st, the Océane brand will only be distributed via its own cooperative Océane.
Under the slogan “Design your own salad”, ‘Val de Loire’ lamb’s lettuce and ‘Kikkoman’ soy sauce have been running a promotion in the main wholesale markets and Spanish supermarket chains.
